ABOUT GATEWAY

The Agribusiness Gateway to Industry Schools Project is managed by CQUniversity’s Agri-tech Education and Extension team, and funded by the Queensland Department of Trade, Employment and Training, delivered in partnership with AgriFutures Australia, the Queensland Agricultural Teachers Association (QATA) and AgForce School to Industry Partnership Program (SIPP).

The project will activate school engagement and education programs for schools across the state, with the goal of introducing young Queenslanders to the many careers available in the State’s agriculture industry.

The project will offer two activity streams for schools to get involved in:

stream 1

Schools apply to be a Stream 1 Gateway School and those selected to participate will work closely with the project team over 12 months to create connections with industry and build capacity to embed agriculture across the curriculum.

stream 2

Teachers apply to participate in Stream 2 through webinars, teacher professional development or to host the project team in their class to deliver curriculum aligned lessons focused on science and technology of agriculture.

The Agri-tech Education and Extension team is a group of researchers and practitioners from CQUniversity Australia who develop innovative programs to increase the skills and knowledge of the current and next generation agricultural workforce in agri-tech tools and systems.

The team works with educational institutions, agricultural businesses and industry organisations to develop and implement a range of learning opportunities for educators, students and those working in the agricultural industry to build their capacity to use data and technology to support decision making across the supply chain.

All of our projects aim to showcase the scientific and digital skills required in the agricultural industry to upskill the current agricultural workforce and attract the next generation to work in the food and fibre production sector.
